Xe MRI Cell Tracking
Molecular Imaging
Projects
Our lab developped a bioreactor system that enables studies of live cells inside the magnet with gentle perfusion to deliver cell medium with hyperpolarized xenon. Hyper-CEST allows identification of various xenon pools, both inra and extra cellular. Cells are embedded in alginate beads that allow biosensor uptake. Such sensors are bi-functional for fluorescence co-registration of labelled cells with confocal microscopy.

This allows us to translate insights from fluorescence imaging into MRI studies without making compromises on the signal penetration depth in opaque samples. Combined with our in-house developped fast imaging approaches we can achieve MRI cell tracking with xenon biosensors for previously MRI-inaccessible molecular markers.
