Interdisciplinary access to large-scale equipment is often indispensable for new insights. While noninvasive imaging techniques are part of everyday life in medical diagnostics, they are still a relatively new method in evolutionary biology. Within a collaboration organized by Alexander Ziegler of the University of Bonn, we contributed MR tomographies with our micro-imaging setup. An example is the publication published in the American Malacological Bulletin, that demonstrates the potential of MR and CT tomography on more than 20 different mollusc species of different sizes. In addition to the anatomical representation of the differently structured organ systems, the aesthetic aspect of the visible structures also impresses.
