Some CEST responses may overlap in the frequency dimension but still show different characteristics. The exchange dynamics provide additional parameters to distinguish between different micro-environments.
Phospholipids with different fluidity are an example for significant differences in xenon exchange rates. Determining the CEST-induced depolarization time (t) by Laplace transform analysis (DeLTA) allows assignment of different exchange dynamics and can be combined with MRI to localize biomembranes of different fluidity.
